ANXIETY THERAPY

ANXIETY THERAPY

It’s quite normal to feel nervous when meeting new people or giving a presentation at work. Sometimes that nervousness becomes overwhelming to an end where you find yourself avoiding situations and hiding from life. Things can get to a point when it becomes difficult to get out of your house or talk to someone in a social setting. When in an anxious state, your body goes into fight, flight or freeze response, making any social interaction difficult and awkward. Now instead of moving towards your life goals, you’re just avoiding those uncomfortable events.

Some common signs of anxiety include:

  • Fear os asking what you need
  • Harsh inner critic
  • Constant worry about something that is happening now or might occur in the future
  • Avoidance of situations or groups of people
  • Restlessness, racing thoughts
  • Poor sleep
  • A constant sense of “something bad is going to happen.”

Anxiety can be present in many different ways, and you might catch yourself thinking…

“I’m nervous, and everyone can tell.”
“I hope I don’t mess this up. I hope I don’t say the wrong thing.”
“What if’s…”

What if I say the wrong thing?
What if my partner leaves me?
What if I lose this job?

“Why am I anxious? I have no reason to be anxious. I have a good life.” (worry about being worried)
“I’ve got nothing interesting to say.”
“Did I say that the wrong way? Did trying so hard not to offend that person make it more offensive?”
“Why are they taking so long to respond to my text message? Are they mad at me? I must have annoyed them.”

Want to control your anxiety, stop worrisome thoughts, and conquer your fears?
Here's how therapy can help.

Anxiety can be paralyzing. You can get so caught up in your worries that it becomes hard to take action. The constant negative self-talk of I’m not good enough; I’ll never get this right, I’ll make a fool of myself if I try can be overwhelming. Suddenly it’s more appealing to hide and avoid, but that only makes things worse.

How We Can Help:

Together we will identify and change those core beliefs that fuel the negative thoughts and learn coping strategies to deal with these challenges. Using the Internal Family Systems model, we will explore where the anxiety comes from and what it’s trying to do for you. Using mindfulness and self-compassion, we will work together to heal those wounded parts that sometimes feel unsafe and trigger your anxiety. Therapy can help reduce that inner critical voice that is always telling you that you are not enough.

Therapy can help you regain your calmness; you don’t have to struggle with anxiety for the rest of your life.

You deserve to thrive and not just survive.
