GETTING STARTED
& FEES

What You Need to Know to Get Started

The first step is to decide if you think we may be a good fit for you.

You can book an initial 15-minute free phone consultation to help you make that decision. In this 15-minute phone consultation, you will learn a little bit about us and how we work. You can ask any questions you feel necessary and share what led you to reach out for counselling. On this call, we will get to know each other enough to decide if we’re a good fit to work together.

The next step is to find a date and time that’s best for you. When we schedule the first session, we will send you a short intake and consent forms to fill out and sign (all online).

The First Session

In our first session, we will go over the limits of confidentiality, and you can ask any questions you may have. We will ask you to tell us about what led you to seek counselling at this time. In the initial sessions, we ask specific intake questions about your general health, how you spend your time, history, and other basic details to that help me understand you better. We will have the opportunity to explore the challenges you face and where they originated.

Frequency of Sessions

Research shows that the best results come from a once-per-week therapy model. Weekly therapy sessions provide the continuity that allows us to form a strong therapeutic alliance. Studies also show that the right match between the client and counsellor is paramount. We know that affordability can be an issue; if that is the case, we can arrange bi-weekly sessions.

When you start feeling better and more confident, you can come back for check-ins when you need them. You’re always welcome to return to regular sessions whenever you have a challenge that you want additional support with.

Are you ready for counselling?

Psychotherapy is a powerful tool that has the potential to make significant and lasting positive changes in your life. Therapy requires a commitment of effort, time, and money. Counselling is an investment in yourself, and you need to decide if you are ready to make this investment and change in your life.

Your state of readiness will have a significant impact on your experience in therapy. Are you ready to engage in counselling? Do you see it as an investment in yourself? Are you prepared to take it seriously? Can you make, keep, and afford to pay for your appointments? Are you ready to do the work?

If so, reach out to see if we’re a good fit.

Fees

Payment

Payment is due at the beginning of each session.
We accept credit card payments, e-transfer and PayPal.

Insurance

Your extended health benefits may cover counselling with a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor. Please contact your insurance provider for further information.
We do not interact with insurance providers directly.

Cancellation Policy

It is central to our practice to fill each session time by assisting someone in their struggle to feel better. Suppose you cannot attend your appointment for any reason. In that case, we will need at least 48 hours notice to process your cancellation and avoid charging the full session fee. We will do our best to reschedule if you’d like to do so, or we can schedule a phone or online session instead of your regular appointment for that week.
