DEPRESSION THERAPY

DEPRESSION THERAPY

Have you been feeling like something is missing in your life, experiencing a constant sadness that’s with you no matter where you go or what you do? Life might seem complicated and heavy; it’s even hard to get out of bed and take care of daily tasks. All you feel like doing is isolating and keeping to yourself. Any social activity feels like a drag. There’s just no pleasure or joy in anything you do anymore.

This grey feeling stops you from engaging with the world the way you once did or how you would like to.

Some typical signs of depression are:

  • A permanent feeling of loss
  • You might be having a hard time at work
  • Romantic relationships are failing
  • Low energy almost constantly
  • No drive or motivation
  • Hopelessness or a feeling that nothing matters
  • You are adopting coping behaviours, such as drinking or recreational drugs, to numb emotional pain
  • Nothing seems to have any meaning
  • Negative thinking, “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t do anything right,” “I’m such a loser.”
  • Avoidance of people or any social settings
  • Decreased ability to feel pleasure or joy

You might catch yourself thinking things like:

“I am a failure.”
“I feel hopeless.”
“I’m useless; what if I never feel good again?”
“What’s the point in all this.”
“My life is never going to get better.”
“I wish I knew what to do to feel better.”
“Why do I feel like this? There’s something is wrong with me?”
“I don’t feel like doing anything.”

You may also notice things like:

  • You have become a stranger to yourself
  • You are isolating and avoiding people
  • Nothing seems to have any meaning
  • Simple tasks seem impossible
  • Stress is more challenging to manage
  • You are always tired and have no motivation
  • Difficulty being present in conversations and social interaction
  • You find yourself increasingly distant from friends and loved ones

As a result, you might feel like life is meaningless. You also might feel a profound sense of loneliness, like you’re the only person in the world having these feelings.

How Can Counselling Help:

Using the Internal Family Systems model, we will explore where the depression comes from and what it’s trying to do for you. We will identify the different parts in you that need to be seen and heard to be healed. Together we will identify and change those core beliefs that fuel the negative thoughts that drive depression.

Using mindfulness and self-compassion, we will work together to heal those wounded parts that sometimes feel unsafe and want to isolate and hide. That feeling of profound loneliness can be lifted. Together we can bring back the colour to your life.

Therapy can help you regain your sense of wholeness; you don’t have to struggle alone with depression for the rest of your life.

Life doesn’t have to be so challenging.
You deserve to regain joy and happiness.
